Joe grew up swimming for the Blue Dolfins and owned several state and national records by the time he was 10 years old. He continued to add multiple state and national records through his senior year in the freestyle, individual medley, and team relay events. A Winter Park High School alumni, Joe was a high school team captain and helped lead the Wildcats to three consecutive state titles. He was also a 9-time high school All-American and won eight state titles before heading to swim for the University of Florida under legendary coach Randy Reese. Joe was later inducted into the Winter Park Sports Hall of Fame in 2003.

As a coach, Joe has worked with swimmers on all levels, age group through college over the years. He has had many swimmers set state, national, and international records, as well as qualify for the US Olympic Trials and Pan American Games. He has also helped many swimmers achieve their goal of collegiate swimming, including many on the Division I level. For the 2023-2024 collegiate season, Blue Dolfins Winter Park has 13 athletes currently swimming in college.

As a USA Swimming coach for nearly 30 years, Joe originally coached on deck with Harry Meisel. He then gained experience as a coach for the Miami’s Stingray Aquatics, Highlander Aquatics, and Longwood Aquatics before returning to the Blue Dolfins in 2007.

In his non-coaching time, Joe started Florida Swim Network which grew into one of the nation’s largest swim sites. Florida Swim Network was tapped to broadcast collegiate swim meets for ESPN and the SEC Network, where Joe often commentated the meets for ESPN. Joe was also on-deck in Rio covering the 2016 Olympics. Florida Swim Network was acquired in 2017. In 2022, he started the Winter Park Blue Dolfins Foundation, Inc, to promote health, wellness, regardless of background and ethnicities, renovation of facilities for further growth, as well as supporting athletes attending secondary education through scholarships.

Kim Burke grew up swimming for Harry Meisel and the Blue Dolfins. She was also part of a legendary era at Winter Park High School where they proudly won their State meet every year before she went on to swim for the University of Kentucky. 

Also a former Masters Swimmer, Kim is still ranked Top 10 in many short course meter events in the 30-34 year old category.

As a coach, Kim had a short stay with Rick Benner and the Central Florida Y before coaching age groupers for the Winter Park YMCA for 8 years. She is also a longtime coach with Winter Park High School's high school team and the Blue Dolfins since 2017.

Coach Scott Caron has spent the past 2 seasons with Trinity Prep Aquatics as the Head High School Coach, Senior Group and Junior Group coach.  Scott brings with him a wealth of swimming and coaching experience in the Central Florida area. 

Previous to that, he spent the past six years as the Head Coach and Aquatics Director for Silver Hawk Aquatics and Lake Howell High School. While at these programs, he developed and coordinated all programs including swim team, swim lessons, summer camp, and outside group usage. Silver Hawk Aquatics grew to over 100 swimmers with many FLAGS, Senior Champ, Sectional, and High School State meet qualifiers. 

Before the Silverhawks, Scott spent 12 years at Patriot Aquatics as the Head Age Group Coach. His positions with Patriot Aquatics included Head Age Group Coach, Assistant Coach for Lake Brantley High School, Summer League Director, Masters Coach, and assistant Pool Manager. While at Patriot Aquatics, the team consistently finished in the Top 10 at Florida Age Group Championships, swimmers set several individual and relay State records as well as being nationally ranked.  Prior to Patriot Aquatics, Scott was the Aquatics Director and Head Coach for the North Central Florida YMCA. 

With over 20 years of coaching experience, he has gained an American Swim Coach Association (ASCA) Level 4 certification and is currently on the Florida Swimming Board of Directors as the Age Group Chairman. He is also a past president of the Florida Swim Coaches Association (FSCA). In 2001, Scott was USA Swimming Select Distance Camp Assistant Coach and in 2002 received the ASCA Award of Excellence. In 2003, he was a speaker at the Eastern Coaches Clinic. Scott was also selected as a coach for the Florida Zone Swim Team in 1999 and 2005. 

Scott has coached swimmers to high finishes at the YMCA National Championships, high school All American honors, and has helped them advance to college level swimming. Scott has also coached several “Florida Swimmer of the Year” athletes, numerous Junior National Qualifiers, YMCA National Record Holders, and Olympic Trial Qualifiers.    

Scott will be the head coach of the Junior Group on a daily basis, as well as assisting all coaches with their groups having an emphasis on creating a competitive training environment with a keen eye on stroke technique. He will also develop a summer league for swimmers, in Winter Park, as well as lead all lesson programs with Blue Dolfins.

Scott is originally from Seminole, FL, and competed for West Florida Lightning Aquatics for 9 years. He competed at Junior Nationals, was selected to the Florida Zone Team, and was a part of state record relays. He attended the University of Florida and graduated with a degree in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism.

He is the proud father to his children, Grace and Hunter.

Kailey moved from Baltimore to Florida from Baltimore to teach swimming at the Park Maitland School. During her time in Baltimore, Kailey launched a new swim team and ran the swim lesson program at the Meadowbrook Swim Club located in Baltimore, MD.

Prior to Baltimore, Kailey spent 8 years at the Chelsea Piers Aquatics Club located in Stamford, Connecticut, where she was the Head Age Group coach and Director of the Swim School. Kailey has worked with all levels of swimmers from children as young as 8 weeks old, children just starting off in their swimming journey and becoming safe in the water, to a four-time USA Swimming National Age Group Record holder who won a silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics.

Kailey also spent two years (2010-2012) coaching with North Baltimore Aquatic Club, working with various age groups within the club. Kailey also coached with Loyola University Maryland. In her two years with the Greyhounds, the Men’s team became the Metro Athletic Conference Champions (2011). In addition, Loyola had both a male (2011 and 2012) and female swimmer (2012) named Swimmer of the Year for the conference.

As a swimmer at Penn State, Kailey was a three-time NCAA qualifier and three-time honorable mention All-American. In multiple events, she ranks in the top five in Penn State’s history. She is a graduate of the Smeal College of Business where she majored in marketing and was a two-time academic all-big ten. As a former member of North Baltimore Aquatic Club, Kailey was ranked in the top 50 in the world in the 200 Butterfly. She competed at the 2008 Olympic Trials in multiple events where she finished in the top 25 and the 2009 World Championship Trials where she swam in the Consolation Finals in multiple events.

Children and swimming are her passions and she is looking forward to helping all of the swimmers on Blue Dolfins! 

Coach Topps, recently retired Physical Education Teacher at Brookshire Elementary, where she ran one of the only swim lesson programs in Orange County Schools until 2020.  Now she has joined the Blue Dolfins as a developmental coach for our youngest Flippers.  

Randi swam as a youth, and was the first girl to swim for her high school (on the boys team until a girls team was established as a result of Title 9). Randi swam in college for two years as a distance swimmer, placing in Nationals in the 1650 freestyle and earning All-American status in the 400 IM.

Randi has taught or coached swimming at various teams in Illinois and Central Florida since 1975.  She came to Florida as a YMCA Aquatic Director to start a swim team in Lake Wales, and became Central Florida YMCA’s area swim director, training many instructors and directors.  

While teaching for OCPS, Randi coached first for Lake Howell High School swim team and water polo teams for three years, then coached Winter Park High School’s JV team and was an assistant coach for the WPHS Water Polo team.  

Just for fun, Randi participated with the Florida Masters Synchronized swimming for 2 years.  She now runs, cycles, or hikes almost every day.  This summer she will be cycling across the US for the second time with the Fuller Center For Housing on a volunteer/bicycle adventure.  

Bess married into the swim business, helping her husband Joe run launch and Florida Swim Network and helping grow the Winter Park branch of the Blue Dolfins. In addition to managing the team’s website, Bess was the founder of the Florida Blogger & Social Media Conference, which grew to be one of the largest blogging conferences of its kind. Bess is a noted published author and consults businesses on their digital marketing.
